Counter-Strike 2 first. Bring the game to the main menu, then open the loader and log in with the licence key from your account when it asks for one.

Yes. The menu draws through the Steam overlay, so it has to be enabled - in Steam under Settings, In Game, and again in the game's Properties. With the overlay off the menu will not show.

Insert, once the loader is running and you are back in the game.

Your licence is tied to your hardware. After a hardware swap or a fresh Windows install, request a reset under Licenses in your account.

  1. Turn your antivirus off and install the runtimes

    This is the same for every product and only needs doing once per PC.

    • Uninstall every antivirus program. Kaspersky and Malwarebytes have to go completely - switching them off is not enough.
    • Turn Windows Defender off, including real-time and tamper protection. dControl does it in one click: dControl - archive password sordum.
    • Uninstall the anti-cheat of every other game: Riot Vanguard, FACEIT, ESEA, Easy Anti-Cheat, BattlEye. Remove the folders too.
    • Install the Visual C++ Redistributables, all versions: Visual C++ All-in-One - unzip it and run install_all.bat as administrator.
    • Install the DirectX End-User Runtime from DirectX runtime - run it as administrator.
    • Install .NET Framework 4.8 or newer from .NET 4.8 - run it as administrator.
    • Restart the PC once everything is installed.

  2. Turn the Steam overlay on

    The menu draws through the Steam overlay, so it has to be on. In Steam open Settings, then In Game, and switch the Steam overlay on. Then right-click Counter-Strike 2 in your library, open Properties, and make sure it is enabled there too.

  3. Download the loader

    Your loader is downloaded from the CS2 area. Keep antivirus off while it downloads and while you unpack it.

  4. Open Counter-Strike 2 first, then the loader

    Counter-Strike 2 always comes first, the loader second. Launch the game, wait until you are in the main menu, and only then open the loader.

  5. Log in with your licence key

    In the loader, log in and paste the licence key from your account when it asks for one.

  6. Open the menu

    Once the loader is done, go back into the game and press Insert to open the menu.
